Hello! You may have arrived here via Google, or a link on someone else’s site.
Unfortunately I don’t blog much anymore so I’ve removed these pages from the main navigation. You’re welcome to read all you like, though. Use the search box below to look through posts, or dig through the archives here. You can also check out my Tumblr blog instead: http://luclatulippe.tumblr.com/.
About posting/forums.
I try to post often at random illustration sites. But it seems to be only with fellow illustrators. Is it worth the trouble? Are only other illustrators there? Maybe, just maybe there are actually art direcotrs lurking about? Any thoughts on that?

Your experience has already answered that question for you.
Illustration forums are good places to find answers and where you can converse with your peers, because that’s what their primary purpose is. They’re lousy places to find clients.
I doubt art directors have any time to spend on illustration forums. If I were an AD, I know I wouldn’t be hanging around there either. If I was looking for talent, I’d go about it differently.
Concentrate on building a good website and find ways to attract attention to it, rather than posting randomly at dozens of other sites that aren’t connected to you in any way.
You might want to compliment your website with one or two other web-presences—such as Twitter, Facebook, or MySpace; something that attracts a different crowd than your main site does (perhaps fans). But make sure to put the majority of your attention and time in the site that generates the most attention (or revenue, whichever is most important to you).
Luc,
Thanks for the input. And you are right, I did answer myslef. But to have it confirmed, is much appreicated! And I have begun to do the additional sites like myspace and whatnot. I can see where it would be a pain in the ass to try to keep up with too many “alt"sites rather than just the core essentials. Again, thanks!!
Drew
